Crisis Line

519-821-0140 or 1-877-822-0140

The Crisis Line is a 24/7 hotline for people experiencing a mental health or suicide crisis. We also support concerned family/friends or professionals/support workers. This intervention line provides the initial point of access for a range of services within the Crisis Intervention System of Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin Counties. The staff who answer this line are highly skilled in suicide and crisis assessment and de-escalation, and are extremely knowledgeable about mental health and crisis services available in our community. The goal of the crisis line is to offer immediate assistance and access to services for people in crisis and when appropriate, to prevent unnecessary hospitalization. Adults and youth/adolescents are welcome to access this service.

The Crisis Line is the after-hours and weekend access point for the Trellis Mobile Crisis Teams in Wellington and Dufferin counties.

The Distress Line is a 24/7 telephone listening service. We help support people who are lonely, confused and/or in distress about their circumstances and need someone to talk to. Through active and non-judgmental listening, we encourage and support people in looking at options when facing difficult times or issues.

The Distress Line offers a confidential, anonymous way for callers to connect to a caring, empathic listener. Listeners are trained community volunteers who provide support and referral information when requested.

TeleCheck

519-415-3764

TeleCheck is a daily telephone check-in service that supports independent living for older adults aged 55 and older, within Dufferin County. TeleCheck volunteers are caring people from the community who offer this friendly call from our Orangeville location. The daily call provides clients both a security check in to ensure the person is not in need of assistance, as well as a social call. The TeleCheck service provides extra reassurance to both older adults and their families by providing daily contact, even on weekends and holidays. We focus on preventing crisis: early warning signs of physical and mental health concerns are supported quickly. Follow up by the program coordinator links clients to additional resources in the community to help them stay living independently as long as possible.

Youth Support Line

The Youth Support Line provides confidential, supportive listening, resources and information for young people, available 24/7. Trained volunteers answering calls will not judge you or your situation. They are there when you are feeling stressed or need someone to listen to you. The line is anonymous and you decide how much information you want to give.
